I'll be honest with you. I don't think it's the best episode I've ever recorded, but it's done and it got things rolling so I can now move on to the next one.

Apparently iTunes doesn't like me or something. It throws an error message saying "Your request could not be completed. The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store." when I follow the iTunes link.

The YDKF Podcast link worked fine, but the Episode 113 link took me to 112.

Can't wait to give it a listen on the way home tomorrow.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell ... I'm a dummy.

I fixed the link to 113. That should fully work now.

The correct iTunes link is http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/you-dont-know-flack/id368604225 -- I'll update that right now, too.

Rob, I guess I couldn't get enough of you over the past weekend and I missed your voice: On Monday during the drive from Amarillo I listened to Episode 113.

It was good but it was too short and I was hoping to hear some more Apple stories from you.

I did find your discussion of the Kindle interesting.

When you sold your Kindle I never got a clear idea why you wanted to get rid of it. Maybe I missed a blog post or two but it was never clear to me the exact reasons you had for dumping the Kindle.

In the pod-cast you gave your reasons for dumping the Kindle and they were, essentially, that the Kindle did not live up to your expectations. I found that very interesting because my Kindle DX lived up to my expectations and it even went a little beyond (Yay for low expectations!). To me the Kindle was a device for reading books. That's it. Not much else. So, when I got my Kindle DX, I got exactly what I wanted. I was also delighted to discover some of the extra features. You wanted more than that out of the Kindle and did not get what you expected. Fair enough. I respect that.

To be honest, I didn't know what I wanted when I bought the Kindle. After owning one for a while, I realized what I wanted was an eReader that I could read free books on. When it comes to free books, there are two main options that I know of: public domain book, and pirated books. Almost all of the pirated books I found were in PDF format, and so what I thought I originally wanted (an eBook reader) changed into wanting a PDF reader.

I think the Kindle DX's screen is probably okay for reading PDF files, but (at least I didn't think) the original Kindle was. I toyed with converting books from one format to another but it wasn't streamlined enough for mass conversions, at least not back then.

The iPad is overkill for reading books, just like a computer is overkill for playing Solitaire. If it's one of many things you want to do, I think it's a good solution.

When I bought my iPad, there were no good Android-based alternatives to choose from. For my next one, I might try one of the competitors and see how they stand up.

I've been told the pdf reader on the Kindle fire is really good but I haven't checked that out on my own. Tonight I'll plug my Kindle into my computer and copy a couple PDF files over and check it out.

I did check out the PDF reader on the Kindle Fire and it's pretty decent. You can zoom in and out all you like and I have had no major issues with it.

BTW, I listened to Episode 113 on the drive home Sunday and I was planning on commenting here about it. I didn't realize I already listened to it months ago until I read my entry on t his thread. D'oh! It sucks getting old.

You think that's bad -- I'm so old, I forgot I recorded it!
