The book ended up being about 20 chapters long. Maybe 19, if I combine two of them.
Whenever I write a book I:
- Write the outline
- Write the book
- Do a first edit
- Do a second edit
- Get someone else to read it
- Publish it
I'm currently on the second edit. The first edit is the big edit. That's when you go back and move chapters or paragraphs around and make sure everything makes sense. I also correct any grammar and spelling issues I see during the first edit.
The second edit is more about finesse. It's about making sure everything flows, for lack of a better word. It's more about making sure I picked the right word at the right time, if that makes sense. It's the details.
I've had a couple of people with editing experience offer to take a look at the book for me. I'm hoping in the next day or two to wrap up the final chapter and get the book to them. Things are looking good!
