Re: BigRobsVan: Building a Desk | BRV027
Back when my YouTube videos were getting around 100 views, every comment was positive and every one got a 100% approval rating. Now I'm getting 300-500 views on average, and for the most part it's still the same. I've had a few videos shoot up in views, like the headlight installation one which has ...

Re: PODCAST: YDKF Episode 235: Things I Wanted to Be When I Grew Up
Wow, I did not know that about you! I also loved reading the comics in the newspaper, but I had the ones I liked and then there were a lot I would skip. I liked all the ones most kids liked: Garfield, Family Circus, Hagar, Blondie and Dagwood, and so on. When I was in third grade a family friend pas...

Re: BigRobsVan: Building a Desk | BRV027
I reedited the video and uploaded a normal "talkie" version tonight. There was a slight mix-up with the upload, but it's all fixed now. As that channel grows, so do the trolls. I have been waiting and preparing for them and for the most part to be 100% honest, they do not bother me. There ...

Along those lines, I think the most logical is RFID/Bluetooth devices that allow us to interact with things in our house. I watched a video decades ago about Bill Gates' house where everyone visiting was issued a badge that tracked where they were and turned lights on and off appropriately. That tec...

Wow man, that is great feedback. Thank you so much. I cut about 7-8 minutes out of this. I ranted about the GoPro for a bit and then I ranted about my batteries a bit. While watching the "final" cut I was like... this is TOO long and so I cut those out. I also watched that cut with Susan a...

Sometimes it's tough to know how much to share and what to put out there. I wasn't sure what I was going to film or say when I set out and what came out is what came out. I was up in the air about uploading it until the last minute. I don't mean to compare my experience to what people who have seen ...

Some people think it was a scam all along and some people think he was just naive. I don't know which I believe but I do know if you say it was a scam they can sue you, so you have to say things like "in my opinion." For people who took tens of millions of dollars from people and never del...

Re: BLOG: Our Five-Year-Old Hot Water Heater Broke
The hot water heater we owned two houses ago was awful. It was installed in a corner "closet" in the garage right next to an exterior door and the pilot light must have blown out 100 times. That hot water heater sat on the ground, so to relight it you had to lay down on the cold, dirty con...

Re: BigRobsVan: Worrying About the Weather
One of the unsung benefits of working from home is working in a comfortable climate. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I think they've been setting the temperature in our building at 74 or 75 degrees, and they don't turn the air on until 7am or so and it turns off at 4pm. I don't like feeling lik...

My dad does the same thing with his air conditioning. He waits to see how late in the year he can make it without turning it on. He usually throws in the towel around the beginning of June, when he can no longer keep the house comfortable with shade and fans.
We turn ours on around March.

Re: PODCAST: Sprite Castle 086: Impossible Mission
Yeah, I do mention the ports toward the end of the episode.
Impossible Mission is one of those few games that the original was so good and following it up with a sequel was nearly impossible. I tend to lump Archon and a few other games into that category.

I don't know if it was worse when they were crowded, or when no one was there. When it was crowded, the line going up the stairs moved very slowly and there were lots of moments to rest. When no one was there, all stood between you and those glorious slides were, you know, a couple hundred stairs.

Re: PODCAST: Rando Rob 0064 – Ninja Trilogy DVDs
Ninja 3 is on my list of worst movies ever (that I love). When I was a kid I did not understand those Cannon films were bad, I just thought they were over the top, super action films. A lot of Ninja III is pretty good, especially from the action standpoint. Looking back on it now, especially the wh...

Re: BLOG: Living that RV Life!
The beds in the RV were not comfortable. They were more than uncomfortable. They were literally painful, and we dreaded sleeping on them. Someone recently told me that the mattresses in RVs are merely place holders until you can buy your own. I don't know if they were being funny or not, but I belie...

One thing I didn't mention was "face swapping." I know in one scene in Jurassic Park a stunt woman performed a drop and they replaced her face with one of the kids' faces. They did the same thing in The Crow. When it's easier to swap in a CGI face than it is to create a mask... yeah. Game ...
